About Us

Montgomery Construction, Inc is a general contracting firm founded in Los Angeles in 1991. We specialize in new residential construction, renovation,  and historical restoration. Our completed projects range from an ultra modern loft to the ground up restoration of Lloyd Wright’s The Martha Taggart residence, as well as a partial restoration of Frank Lloyd Wright’s La Miniatura/Alice Millard residence. We have also completed the recent restoration of John Lautner’s Schaffer residence and the partial restoration of Lloyd Wright’s home and studio in West Hollywood. The company’s restoration work began with its first project in 1988 of restoring a California Craftsman Bungalow originally built in 1916. That project expanded over the years for the same clients with the addition of a guest house, office, and culminated in 2007 with the addition of a full basement under the original two story bungalow, all in the Craftsman theme with specific references to the designs of Charles and Henry Greene.

Although historic work is the foundation of our reputation, we use the same skills, attention to detail, and high level of craftsmanship on all of our projects, and we have extensive experience building in all architectural styles. An important part of our success is our relationship with sub contractors who work to the same high standards and commitment to perfect work. The size of our projects have ranged from $50,000 to $4,000,000.

Tom Montgomery, President of the firm, is involved in all phases of each project and works as the supervising project manager on every job. He learned from the ground up, working for a general contractor in the Napa Valley in the 1970’s who specialized in high-end custom homes and wineries. He was fortunate to be trained by some of the last old world carpenters in the business who applied the same exacting detail to forming foundations as they did in the final finish work. Tom will work hand-in-hand with you or your representatives to ensure you get exactly what is on the plan or in your imagination. Please contact Tom directly at 310-918-5887 regarding your project.
